More Chronic More Medicines

Pharmachains addresses a multifaceted challenge in global healthcare, comprising five interconnected issues:

In February 2025, the World Health Organisation highlighted that approximately 71% of all deaths globally are attributed to chronic diseases, with cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases being the leading causes.

This indicates that deaths due to non-surgical diseases (conditions whose treatment does not require surgery) exceed those from surgical illnesses. In other words, more people die from diseases that could be cured or managed with medications than from surgery-related conditions. As deadly as COVID-19 was, hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial drug, was found to be effective in its treatment, but it was difficult to find. This further underscores the impact of medications in successful healthcare delivery. As a statement of fact, even surgical treatments require the use of medicines, from anaesthetics to analgesics. We literally cannot do without medications in their various dosage forms.
